As you may have read, Google, Comcast, Intel Capital, Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks and Trilogy Equity Partners have entered into an agreement to invest $3.2 billion in a new wireless broadband company. The new company will combine Clearwire’s existing consumer WiMAX business with Sprint’s broadband infrastructure and 2.5 GHz spectrum to create a new nationwide wireless broadband network.

There are two versions of SharePoint. One isÂ called SharePoint Services which comes with Windows Server 2003 & isÂ useful in many waysÂ for online collaboration. The latestÂ version number isÂ 3.0. The more robust,Â costly version isÂ very powerful as a web content management system, a document storage library,Â a web applications builder and so much more. It includes records management features that have been certified for use by the United States DOD (Dept. of Defense).Â Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 replaces Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003. The differences betweenÂ 2003 and 2007 versions are substantial.

“WordPress (WP) is a state-of-the-art semantic personal publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability. What a mouthful. WordPress is both free and priceless at the same time.”

The quote above is straight from WordPress.org . I do not disagree with it. In my experience using thisÂ software is the simplest and best way for a non technical person to edit web pages. WPÂ can be used asÂ a basic web content management system even though its claim to fame is personal blogs (web log entries & collections). Â

There are a couple of ways to get the most value out of a WP installation. Themes and plugins are keys to successful, very capable WP web sites. Both significantly enhance the capabilities of a web site and are readily available at no cost. Themes allowÂ changing the look ofÂ a web site.Â Certain themes add more functionalityÂ in the area of content management.Â View some theme options on their web site. Plugins enhance the operation of a site by allowing extended options. OneÂ example is a plugin that allowsÂ users to fill out formsÂ inÂ orderÂ to submit emails securely. OtherÂ plugins provide technical details for automatingÂ photo galleries, web site statistics, Podcast publications and more.
